Prepping Tips: Don’t Forget About Your Pets!

Pretty much every prepper has a food supply, water storage, and many other essential items ready for themselves and their family.

However, a lot of people seem to forget about their pets in the equation of how much they need.

There’s a good possibility that you have a dog, cat, bird, fish, hamster, rabbit, horse, or one of the other dozens of popular pets out there. You might even have more than one – as a lot of people do.

Have you done the math on how much extra water you will need to take care of your pets?

Do you have a food supply for each pet that equals the same amount of time you have supplied for yourself/family?

If your animals have any certain dietary restrictions or medication needs; have you thought about this?

What exactly is your plan for your pets if SHTF?

These are real questions that you need to answer and address!

* Also remember that ticks, fleas, worms, etc… are a very likely issue with your pets.

* They will also need to go outside to the bathroom, have cages and/or litter boxes cleaned, and so on (depending on what pets you have).

* Just like you — they need food, water, shelter, medicine, and more. Other items you may need are leashes, collars, carriers, treats, pet clothing, blankets, grooming tools, and so on…

>>> Really the list is endless considering all the possible pets out there and their individual needs.

Only YOU know what you have and what they need. We are simply trying to remind you that you will have to account for their needs in your prepping stock.

Anyway, the point here is… Don’t Forget About Your Pets.

It’s far too easy to overlook the fact that you also have animals relying on you when you are trying so hard to make sure you and your family are prepared for an emergency.

Final Thoughts

I want to stress how important it is that you DO NOT ABANDON YOUR PETS unless it is truly a life or death situation and you have absolutely no other option. Even then, it is vital that you give them a fighting chance!

Make sure they have all the food/water/shelter/etc you can possibly give them in order to survive on their own if you do have to leave them. This is especially true if the situation you are in will likely be short-lived and you will be able to go back home soon. You don’t want that weighing on your mind if you can avoid it!
